Digital Platforms: What future awaits Melbourne?

La Trobe University are hosting an event named ‘Digital Platforms: What future awaits Melbourne?’

In less than 10 years the global business environment has been transformed by platform business models. The top 10 largest companies in the S&P500 are now dominated by tech companies. An unprecedented reshuffle in money, power, and freedom. Platform-centred markets are forecast to grow with new applications in healthcare, agriculture, and cities.

Melbourne has a proud history of building and scaling platform companies with global impact. These include the trailblazers of Seek, Carsales, REA to the current generation of RedBubble, 99Designs, and CultureAmp. Across the local ecosystem a vanguard design, build, and execute new value-creation platforms.

Our future as a platform hub however is not assured. In the networked age companies must interpret and respond to complex and conflicting challenges ranging from the rise of China, data, trust, and regulation.

This public event will appeal to platform executives, startups, ecosystem builders, and researchers with an unmet appetite for practical and actionable insight to drive their platform business strategies.

This event is being hosted in partnership with MIT Digital, who are offering an amazing prize worth $1,400 of a pass to MIT’s 2019 summit held in the US.
